Rewind Technique — working with psychological trauma and PTSD
Sometimes an event ended long ago, yet inside you it continues. Intrusive memories, anxiety, nightmares, flashbacks, fear and avoidance can keep bringing the experience back for years. Rewind Technique is a brief method for working with traumatic memories and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), developed by Dr David Muss. Its distinctive feature is that you do not need to describe the trauma in detail or retell painful events. The procedure itself may take only 2–3 minutes and is intended to reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories. Work usually involves two meetings: the main session and a follow-up to assess changes. The method does not erase memory and cannot guarantee the same result for everyone, but it may help restore a sense of control over memories and your life.
